Blade X6440 Information

The Sun Blade X6440 server module is a four-socket enterprise-class datacenter engine with significant cooling and power savings. The X6440 is the first AMD Opteron Server Module with four sockets for usage in the Sun Blade 6000 and 6048 Modular Systems. This system, which is based on AMD Opteron processors with six cores (also known as "Istanbul"), is suited for consolidating IT infrastructures or Web service farms. Because these blades expand easily and support vast amounts of I/O and memory, they can run the widest range of configurations and applications, ensuring client investments are protected and future company growth is supported.

Part of the Sun Blade 6000 Modular System family, which offers up to 2.7x the I/O capacity (142Gbps) and up to double the memory (32 DIMM slots) of comparable servers.
