The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 server is the first dual-socket, general-purpose server with up to 128 compute threads and runs on the free and open-source Solaris Operating System. Each processor crams up to eight cores and 64 simultaneous threads onto a single piece of Silicon, as well as the essential operations of an entire system – computation, security, and I/O – into a single chip.
