The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5220 server, which runs Oracle Solaris, is the first 64-thread general-purpose server to be powered by the UltraSPARC12 "system on a chip" CPU. It crams up to eight cores and 64 simultaneous threads into a single piece of Silicon, along with the essential functionalities of a full system - computation, networking, security, and I/O - onto a single chip. With highly extensible internal storage and network connectivity, all of this power and capability is contained in a 2 RU compact factor. Better integration involves fewer parts, which leads to increased reliability. With a choice of Solaris Containers and Logical Domains, the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5220 server provides the industry's only integrated, open-source, and no-cost virtualization technology. You can deploy more than 1,250 isolated domains per rack by enabling up to 64 isolated domains per server – for ultimate server virtualization and consolidation.
