In addition to 0 or 2 built-in ports for 40 Gb QSFP ports, the PowerConnect 8100 series switches, which were announced in 2012, offered 24 or 48 ports on 10Gb. Additionally, each model has one module slot that can accommodate four SFP+ 10Gb ports, two QSFP 40Gb ports, or four 10GbaseT ports. The 8132/8132F/8164/8164F, designed for use as a distribution or core switch for campus networks and for usage in the data center, includes capabilities including data center bridging, loss-less Ethernet for iSCSI and FCoE, and iSCSI Auto-configure. Any type of interface (10Gb or 40Gb, fiber-optic or UTP copper) and a stack of up to 6 units from the 8100 series can be utilized to create a logical switch.
