The PowerConnect 7000 series switches are developed to provide fixed-port, secure Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions that operate at full wire speed. The PowerConnect 7000 series supports demanding network settings with 24 or 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a 1U form factor. This series offers a total switching capability of up to 224 Gbps. For entry-level ToR and enterprise applications where high performance, high availability, and energy efficiency are crucial criteria, the PowerConnect 7000 Ethernet Switch family is created.

The PowerConnect 7024 and 7048 versions shared many of the same capabilities as the 6224 and 624 versions, but they also included 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and QoS features for iSCSI. The 7000-series offers the same kind of ports: stacking modules on the back side, 1G on the front, and an optional 10G.
