Enterprise T5440 Information

The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 server is the industry's first quad-socket general-purpose server, powered by the UltraSPARC T2 Plus processor, which runs the free and open-source Oracle Solaris operating system. Each CPU crams eight cores and 64 simultaneous threads, as well as the system's fundamental operations, into a single piece of Silicon. Oracle VM Server for SPARC (formerly known as Sun Logical Domains) virtualization technology supports up to 128 isolated domains per server and is built-in, customizable, and free.

 

  • The Sun SPARC Enterprise T5440 server has a lot of I/O and memory expandability, so you can add extra capacity quickly and cheaply. 
  • The number of I/O slots available can be increased to 28 PCIe slots with Oracle's Sun External I/O Expansion Unit.
