The native data transfer rate of the TS1120 tape drive is up to 104 MBps. The TS1120 tape drive can transfer data up to 200 MBps in open system conditions where data typically compresses at 2:1. A single tape drive can transfer data up to 260 MBps in a mainframe system, where data compresses at a rate of 3:1. This can help reduce backup and recovery times, as well as the number of resources needed to maintain the system.
