The NCS 5500 Series provides 400 GbE and 100 GbE port density that leads the industry and can manage rapid traffic growth. It is made to be easily operated and to effectively meet the scalability requirements of large businesses, the web, and service providers. High-scaled line cards and fixed chassis are additional features of the Cisco NCS 5500 Series that increase the Forwarding Information Base (FIB) scale capabilities by at least eight times over the line card's base model. Along with the robust and established functionality currently present in 64-bit Cisco IOS® XR Software, these line cards are capable of enhanced packet forwarding, segment routing, programmable network management, and telemetry.
