Juniper Networks EX8200-40XS Ethernet Line Card

The Juniper Networks EX8200-40XS Ethernet Line Card is a 40-port oversubscribed 10GbE solution designed for various data center applications, including end-of-row and middle-of-row server access, data center blade switch, and top-of-rack or campus uplink aggregation deployments. As part of the Juniper Networks EX8200 line of Ethernet cards, renowned for their powerful, modular platforms, the EX8200-40XS ensures high-performance, scalability, and carrier-class reliability crucial for today's high-density enterprise data center access, core, and campus aggregation and core environments.

This line card is optimized for data center networks transitioning from GbE to 10GbE interfaces, where simultaneous line-rate performance is not required on all ports. The EX8200-40XS supports a wide range of both SFP (GbE) and SFP+ (10GbE) modular optical interfaces, facilitating connections over multimode fiber, single-mode fiber, and copper cabling. With 40 SFP/SFP+ ports organized into eight independent groups of five ports each, the line card provides deployment flexibility, allowing each group to have its own oversubscription ratio.

Each group dedicates 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) of switching bandwidth, dynamically shared among the ports, with queues allocated within a 1 MB oversubscription buffer based on the number of active ports and interface types. The EX8200-40XS line card streamlines deployment, automatically provisioning each port group without requiring manual configuration. This flexibility makes it an ideal migration vehicle for customers transitioning to higher-speed connectivity in either 10GbE or GbE applications within each port group independently.
