InfiniBand is now a high-performance solution for local, campus, and even metro applications thanks to the TX6100 MetroX series, which transforms it from a data center network with a single location.

Long-haul InfiniBand is used by MetroX switches, which enable data transmission across lengths of up to 10 km. The switches offer integrated InfiniBand networking for aggregate data and storage. The MTX6100 from Mellanox can accommodate up to 6 downlink ports at 56Gb/s and 6 long-haul ports at 40Gb/s for distances of up to 10km. In comparison to conventional single port-to-port long-haul solutions, the port capacity enables campus deployments in the form of a star and clearly reduces CAPEX.
